CEVAMEC 1%

Consumption:

  1. Ivermectin... 1 g
  2. Excipient... q.s.f ... 100 ml

 

Le. 1 ml of CEVAMEC 1% contains 10 mg of ivermectin.
 

 

Properties:

Ivermectin, an avermectin derivative, con­trols a broad spectrum of both internal and external parasites affecting cattle, sheep, goats and camels. Ivermectin acts on para­sites by stimulating the release of the neu­rotransmitter GABA which leads to the immobilisation and death of nematodes, arthropods and insects. Pharmacokinetics of ivermectin is characterised by a fast dis­tribution and a prolonged elimination phase (half-life up to eight days in cattle) ensuring a permanent parasiticide efficacy of 2 - 4 weeks.
 

 

Indications:

  1. Cattle, sheep, goats, camels.
  2. CEVAMEC 1% injectable solution is effective for both prevention and treatment of gastro-intestinal nematodes, lungworms, eyeworm, myiasis (warble, screw worm), mites, lice, nasal worm and as an aid in the control of ticks. For detailed information see the following tables.

 

Dosage and Administration:

0.2 mg/kg LBW (200 mg/kg) of ivermectin Le. 1 ml/50 kg LBW or 0.5 ml/25 kg LBW. Inject subcutaneously in front or behind the shoulder
The use of a sterile needle (2 cm x 16 - 17 gauge) is recommended.
Automatic dosing equipment can be used. Do not inject more than 10 ml at one injec­tion site.
 


Contra-Indications:

CEVAMEC 1% must not be used intra­muscularly or intravenously. Do not use on animals in lactation if milk is intended for human consumption.
Do not use on dairy animals within 28 days prior to parturition if milk is intended for human consumption.
 


Recommendations:

Ivermectin is not toxic at up to 30-fold over­dose. In the tolerance studies CEVAMEC@ 1 % failed to induce any toxic effect. The recommended dosage has no adverse effect on the performance of target species. Transitory local reaction has been noticed at the injection site. CEVAMEC<8> 1 % is compatible with other drugs and vaccines. They should be administered at separate injection sites. Clostridial vaccination is rec­ommended for sheep before deworming.
 


Precautions:

  1. Refrain from eating and smoking while using the product.
  2. Wash hands after use. Keep out of reach of children.

 

Withdrawal Period:

  1. Meat and offal Goats, Camels: 28 days.
  2. Cattle, Sheep: 21 days.
